Crowned in Our Own Image Fashion Show
When: October 23rd, 2026
Time: 6pm - 10pm
Where: Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester NH - Mill Building
Theme: Crowned in Our Own Image: A Black Fashion Experience
Fashion has always been more than clothing. For Black communities, it has been a declaration of identity, culture, resistance, and liberation.
Join Black Lives Matter New Hampshire and The Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire for Crowned in Our Own Image, an immersive fashion experience that serves as the signature evening event of the 20th Annual Black New England Conference. Inspired by this year's conference theme, Shaping Tomorrow: Black Autonomy in an Age of Erasure, the show explores what it means to define ourselves in a world that has too often attempted to erase Black history, voices, and brilliance.
Through bold design, storytelling, music, and movement, designers and models will take audiences on a three-act journey:
Act I: Erasure – A reflection on the systems that have sought to silence, distort, and diminish Black identity and history.
Act II: Resistance – A celebration of resilience, cultural expression, and generations of Black communities refusing to disappear.
Act III: Autonomy – A powerful vision of Black self-determination, sovereignty, and the future we are building on our own terms.
Inspired by the royalty of African kingdoms, the creativity of the African diaspora, and the limitless possibilities of Black futures, Crowned in Our Own Image invites guests to witness fashion as a form of advocacy, memory, and liberation.
This is more than a runway show. It is a declaration that Black identity is not defined by systems of oppression but by our own stories, our own communities, and our own power.
