BIPOC Open Mic Night

BLM Seacoast and The Music Hall Lounge set to host an electric night showcasing local BIPOC artists!

When: Sunday January 8th, 2023

Time: 1pm - 3pm & 5pm - 7pm

Where: The Music Hall in Portsmouth, New Hampshire

Black Lives Matter Seacoast is proud to partner with The Music Hall Lounge for our first Open Mic Day on January 8th, 2023. This Day is themed “In Your WORDS and VOICE”. We are putting out a call to our Black, Brown and Indigenous community members to showcase their creative expressions through spoken word, music, art, stand up and more!

The first session is at 1pm - 3pm for those ages 16-20. The session is free to all and we will provide complimentary lunch to all.

The second session is at 5pm for ages 21+ and Our second session is with donated admission that will support our Youth Division of BLM Seacoast and future Open Mic Series. The Music Hall Lounge Bar will be open with a cash bar.

Both sessions will feature Dj MAM. DJ MAM is new to the scene. Originally from Boston, Dj MAM gained a love for 90’s Hip-HOP and R&B which you will experience through her dj sets.

The host for our first BIPOC Open Mic Night on Jan 8th is the one and only Akrobatik ! Akrobatik (born Jared Bridgeman) is a world-renowned Hip-Hop artist and a native of Boston. He has also been teaching Hip-Hop Studies courses at UMass Boston since 2014, and is the faculty advisor for the UMass Boston Breakers, the university's official breakdance squad. Akro is also an accomplished voice actor and radio personality. His "Sports Rap-Up" feature on The Morning Show with Ramiro and Pebbles made him a household name in New England towards the end of the 2000's. Ak's socially and politically conscious style of rap music has appeared in movies, television shows, and video game soundtracks throughout his career.
