Position Overview:

The Executive Director will be responsible for leading the organization's efforts in advancing racial justice, equity, and liberation for Black communities across the state of New Hampshire. This is a contract-based position with flexible hours and the opportunity to work remotely. Supported by a committed Board of Directors, volunteers and community stakeholders, the Executive Director must harness these resources, develop and maintain relationships to effectively implement Black Lives Matter New Hampshire’s strategic goals and objectives, and work with partner organizations and various funding sources. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction to advance the mission and goals of Black Lives Matter New Hampshire.

  • Develop and articulate a clear vision and strategic direction for BLM NH in alignment with the organization's mission and values.

  • Lead the implementation of strategic initiatives and campaigns to advance racial justice and equity in New Hampshire.

  • Organizational Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization,

    • Oversee all aspects of organizational operations, including budgeting, financial management, and administrative functions.

    • Ensure compliance with legal requirements, organizational policies, and grant/funding agreements.

    • Provide supervision and support to staff, contractors, and volunteers involved in BLM NH activities.

  • Coalition Building: 

    • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with other organizations, community leaders, and stakeholders to amplify the impact of BLM NH's work.

    • Collaborate with local, regional, and national partners on joint advocacy efforts, campaigns, and initiatives.

  • Advocacy and Activism: Lead and support advocacy efforts to address systemic racism, police brutality, and other forms of oppression affecting Black communities in New Hampshire.

    • Mobilize community members and allies to participate in advocacy campaigns, protests, rallies, and other direct actions.

  • Community Engagement: Develop and implement initiatives to engage and empower Black communities

    • Develop and implement strategies for engagement and outreach, including organizing events, workshops, and educational programs.

    • Foster relationships with community members, activists, and organizations to ensure BLM NH's work is grounded in community needs and priorities.

  • Fundraising and Development: Lead fundraising efforts for organization in collaboration with Board of Directors 

    • Lead fundraising efforts to secure financial resources for BLM NH's programs and operations, including grant writing, donor cultivation, and fundraising events.

    • Develop and maintain relationships with donors, funders, and supporters to sustain and grow BLM NH's funding base.

  • Communications and Outreach: 

    • In collaboration with the Board of Directors and Leadership team, serve as the  spokesperson for Black Lives Matter New Hampshire and effectively communicate the organization's mission, values, and initiatives to the public through various channels, including social media, press releases, and public speaking engagements.

    • Develop and implement a communications strategy to raise awareness of BLM NH's work, amplify Black voices, and promote social change.

  • Volunteer and Staff Management: 

    • Recruit, train, and manage volunteers and staff members to support the organization's programs and activities.

Qualifications:

  • Strong commitment to racial justice, equity, and liberation for Black communities.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, community organizing, advocacy, or related fields.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in grassroots organizing, advocacy, or nonprofit management.

  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, organizational management, and coalition building.

  • Proven track record in fundraising, grant writing, and donor cultivation.

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  • Knowledge of the political, social, and cultural landscape in New Hampshire.

  • Familiarity with Black Lives Matter movement principles, values, and goals.Strong commitment to racial justice, equity, and liberation for Black communities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and build coalitions.

The Position currently will dictate 15-20 hours per month with $50.00 a hour. An Increase of hours and salary within the following year and sustainability of funding.
